Carla Scarpone brings a robust point of view stemming from her diverse experiences in both law and social work. Prior to earning her law degree, she served as a paralegal for private and nonprofit organizations focused on child welfare and juvenile justice, as well as served as a judicial clerk in the Denver District Court’s domestic division. She has a rich background understanding the needs of children.
Carla was selected as a 2005 Bergstrom Child Welfare Law Fellow at the University of Michigan School of Law. In this fellowship program, she supported child welfare offices representing children, parents and social service agencies. She has also worked in a variety of capacities with the National Counsel for Children, the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center and The Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect. Carla is also a trained and certified Child and Family Investigator.
She has received numerous industry awards and recognitions, including Colorado Super Lawyers’ “Rising Star,” Avvo’s “Client Choice Award” and Law Week Colorado’s Up-and-Coming Lawyer selection in 2011.
Carla earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2006. While completing her law degree Carla also earned a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver.
Carla actively contributes to the community, currently involved with the Mwandi Orphans and Vulnerable Children Project. She has also served as Denver Health’s volunteer association board chair and as a volunteer attorney with Family Tree.
Outside of the office, Carla loves spending time with her husband and young children. She is a certified yoga instructor and enjoys cooking, hiking, snowboarding and traveling around the world.
